CASE STUDY
We’re launching a Minechest Crate for dedicated Minecraft fans, bringing the game to life through curated and collectible items. This pitch includes crate concepts of packaging, insert, and pin backer design, all based in Minecraft’s unique pixel art and blocky style and vibrant colors. With highly strict guideline from Minecraft, we created 3 ideas to pitch to Minecraft with the goal to spark fan engagement through immersive and tangible experiences.

Concept 1 — Treasure Hunt. This concept is based on the idea of a Minecraft treasure box arriving at your doorstep each month. Opening it feels like uncovering your treasure of the month. The insert clearly displays the items, and the accordion fold reveals them one by one—turning the unboxing into a short, exciting journey of discovery.

The packaging features a woodgrain texture that echoes Minecraft’s iconic aesthetic, while the accordion-fold insert reveals each curated item—such as themed pins, a Jungle T-shirt, and a water bottle—one by one. Together, the crate and contents create an engaging, collectible experience rooted in Minecraft’s world of adventure.

Concept 2 — Discovery. This concept uses in-game Minecraft elements as design features for the crate. The contrast between the black-and-white exterior and the vibrant in-game graphics inside creates a delightful surprise for fans when they open it.

Proposed pamphlet design uses vibrant colors—especially Minecraft green—to create an element of surprise when fans open the black box. The pin backer is also designed to echo this visual theme.

Concept 3 — Featuring the current in-game scene. This Mine Chest concept delivers an immersive unboxing experience inspired by Minecraft’s in-game elements. The crate, pamphlet, and pin backer share cohesive visuals, echoing the iconic wooden chest design. Curated items like the Jungle T-shirt and themed pins bring surprise and delight to dedicated fans.

The proposed design for the pamphlet and pin backer stays visually cohesive with the outer box, maintaining a consistent look and feel throughout the unboxing experience. Using the most current in-game graphics provided by Minecraft, this approach enhances brand recognition and adds to the overall excitement of the crate.
